Hi,When we decided to part with the old Murvi after 116,000 miles & 10 years of impeccable service from the 2.8 TD fiat & get a new one on the 2.3 we were fully aware of the possibility of juddering reverse problems. Basically the reverse gear is to high & creates problems for heavier motorhome.Since collecting the new Murvi in Jan we have covered 10,000 with NO problems until the latest trip. Leaving Milan with 4 people & 5 suitcases we were near our payload limit & sure enough while reversing of road in an Alpine meadow (Don’t ask!) I felt the dreaded judder. Yesterday I e-mail Fiat at contactfiat@uk-central.com Explaining the problem & enclosed my Reg & phone Numbers. Within half an hour Fiat rang me, apologised & promised that customer care would ring within 24 hours to sort out the problem. Today customer care rang assured me that a new reverse gear, clutch modifications & suspension would be fitted at my convenience & at the garage of my choice with No costs. I explained that the first service was due in January at Essanjays in Poole & customer service said they would arrange it - and it is so. January 7th I am booked in for the service & alterations. So verily I say unto you bunch of cynics & unbelievers – Behold the age of miracles IS NOT PASSED.

Hi, I hope the mods by Fiat sort out the problems you have.

You are not alone as the postings on 'Motorhomefacts' on the problems with judder on the X250 is at 256 pages long:eek:

Hi, Not so much a problem for us as the Murvi is a panel van & with the two of us in it just does not happen, we travel light. I thoroughly tested one out before purchase & I know Murvi does as well, its just at the top end of the payload. But as you say good noos is good noos.

Hi Dezi,

Good luck with the repairs.
Our. Peugeot X250 on a 2.3 had that very same problem. Peugeot had it in and fitted a modified reverse gear, clutch and flywheel, and we still had the judder. They then came and took it away to customer services in Coventry and replaced the gearbox, flywheel and clutch, and hey presto, it now reverses just give your van a good road test after the modification job in Jan. FInd a good 1 in 5 hill to test.

i have just bought an 07 peugeot boxer3 short w base six speed van even unloaded you have to rev it hard in reverse or it stalls reverse is vastly overgeared ,apart from that i love it

Hi, put the Murvi in for its first service yesterday morning. Also had the Fiat modifications carried out.[ Parts having been sent by Fiat earlier ] Collected it this morning. Everything has gone smoothly.Fiat appear to have finally twigged what Customer service & Customer satisfaction mean - well done Fiat. Finally I cannot praise Essanjays garage in Poole highly enough. In the 12 years that I have been going to Steves family run firm its always friendly - efficient & workmanship at its best.

Hi,
if the van is still under warranty, take it in to Peugeot and demand the gearbox mod. Mine is a 2007 model on a long wheelbase, read previous post for all work carried out on mine. I even got an extra 2yr warranty on the Gearbox/flywheel and clutch, also 3x free services for my troubles. Just talk to the dealer if you go, and get customer services involved.

Cheers, Bill.

If you have the 3.0 litre engine (which has the same problems) do not bother as Fiat refuses to accept there is a problem.
