Keeping cool

Just wondered on ideas of keeping cool from ourselves, animals and food. Got the usual gas fridge, electric cool box, fans etc but was looking for some interesting ideas of low tech, low or no energy options.

My brother on his bike tours through Spain and North Africa can't carry fridges etc but uses a vacuum flask to keep his milk fresh. We are ordering a version to carry the butter off ebay but there must be some good ideas out there?

Again my animals will suffer in these hot enviroments if we do get the hot summer we are promised.

We have some ideas but no doubt there some inventive ones exist out!

Keeping cool was possible in the past without the new technology's of today!

For your cool boxes you should freeze a bottle of milk and place inside instead of those blue plastic thingy,s,and when the milk thaws you can still use it

When you are using your fan fill a plastic bag full of ice cubes and fit it to the front of the fan.(that is of course on the guard )
