Hi all,
I've just fixed a radiator leak on My Transit with K-Seal and thought I should recommend it to everyone. It's a copper based liquid that you simply pour into your radiator or water reservior. The copper particles lodge themselves into to the leak then, when operating temperature is reached, the particles weld themselves into a mass to seal the hole. K-Seal only works though, if the gap is 0.75mm or smaller but for thirteen quid it is worth trying....The last time I used it a couple of years ago I saved myself a £350 bill for a head gasket replacement and the car concerned is still running. This time I've saved at least a hundred quid, I was having to top up the water every 150 miles. The manfacturer says that once a gap is sealed it's permanent. The liquid also circulates round your cooling system and will spring into action as soon as another leak appears. It costs £13a bottle and one bottle works on cooling systems of up to 20 litres.
Hope this is of use to somebody..... And in anticipation of the question....No, I don't work for the company I'm just so chuffed that I've fixed my leak with very little effort!
PS Apparently it mixes OK with synthetic coolants and anti-freeze.
