I was thinking.................

I am aware that there are quite a lot of 'Wild Campers' with their big 'W' displayed on their 'vans', so would it be a good idea to give each full member a number?
This number could be (or not, depending on choice) displayed alongside their 'W' so that other members may identify each other.
It could possibly lead to a 'game' for long journeys, of collecting numbers, very much like the Eddie Stobbart scenario, also make introductions between members who meet out on the road so much easier.

It is just a thought!

I've been keeping an eye out for a "w" in any MH's i see around but none yet.

Me too but haven't seen anybody. But it gives me something to do!

I saw 1 yesterday attached to Kellyjohn's m/home, ok i admit we parked up at side of him at moggy's eye for a bit before we went onto Huttoft. Does that count.!!!!!

True... if its filling in a collection you're after, it's going to take a lifetime to get even a few handfulls.

Or you could cheat and get them at rallies, like those trainspotters who go round loco sheds and get a hundred at a time :lol-053:

i seen a lot of w's they all on one make volkswagon did see one on a rascal and sambura ? lol

not really! just making conversation!

How many motorhomes in the uk ?
I guess around 100,000 total

That makes it all the more interesting when/if a 'van' is seen with a 'W' displayed, AND the owner identified from this forum.

Just a thought. Folks can ink in their WC Member name and their Members number
Most folks use a Nom de Plume (is that the correct way to say it) name so it will not interfere with their real ID. For example, we are David & Ann and our Membership Number is 646.

thanks david ann never knew my number till tonight thanks to your post i see where my numbers is now and it 16 of march 2002

No offence meant but imo that wouldn't be a good idea at all. If membership number and vehicle reg could be linked like that it's just asking for trouble.

Please explain, how?
Member numbers can only be seen on this forum, some registrations can also be seen.
I don't see that cloning (the main result of registration theft) of motorhomes/campers is so easy as cloning of say a Ford Focus, due to the fact that it is not often that you would see two identical motorhome/campers.
I am sure that there would be sceptics to 'Just a thought' ,however I fail to see (until someone proves otherwise) where the 'security leak' could be.

Hi I'm not talking about cloning or registration theft although now you mention it they could be issues as well. My concerns were more basic really. If you see someones membership number or other identifying number on their vehicle then you have both their membership number and vehicle reg. Personally I wouldn't be happy being part of an online motorhome community that did that, especially a wildcamping motorhome community. If people want to share reg numbers and other info thats fine but it should be informal as is.
