I'm not much of a royalist but I'm really looking forward to this bank holiday break.
The buzz of being happy about being British is a really positive thing. Yeah, so we may sometimes think that our country has 'gone to the dogs' with litter and bad attitudes, but essentially we're good old bunch of folk with a lot of sensitivity and wisdom to offer the world. When I was growing up, the British flag was hijacked by extreme right wing loonies and it became a thing of shame at the time. With the run up to the jubilee celebrations, I'm filled with a sense of quiet pride that we have managed to pull it back from them, I hope we never let that happen again.

I'm off to Cartmel on Thursday with my young'un, pet mod, sisters and their fellas who'll be tenting.
We're staying at a site, High Fell Gate, (my sisses' fellas need hook up for their snore machines (both have sleep apnia and sound like stegasaurs when they are sleeping). The site is a couple of miles away from the town - which is lovely, and we'll be going to the race meet on the Sunday. Monday we're having a jubilee party on the site and hope to get some of the other campers to join in, put the telly out and watch the gig festival style, barbecue, games, a few beers, and of course
CAKE!.
That's the plan anyway, the weather may have it's own plans.

I wish everybody a lovely, relaxed and happy holiday weekend.

Cheers!

Suki.

ssssssshhhhhh!!!!! runnach, it's an English thing!!!!!!!

I'll be in Florida (is that far enough to avoid the hype?)

Bloody humbug.
Thousands, No millions spent on rubbish, Millions of hours work lost, Like a local small businessman said on telly last evening. He has got to pay his 12 workers and he has then got to spend all week end in the factory himself as he dare not allow the machines to stop. What a bloody mess this country is in. OK let anyone have a day or two off to celebrate if that is their thing. But to pay them for it as well. The mind boggles.
Bring back a fair days pay for a fair days work. And no work equals NO PAY.

Welcome to my world. No Holiday pay, no sick pay, no Bank Holiday pay.
But I am still happy to work free lance.

Ours too. I have to close my shop when I go away or have time off so no pay no takings etc. However, I'm happy to have this weekend and enjoy the jubilee celebrations in my own way. 4 days in the van.
(yes im a royalist and ill put me tin hat on now ready, lol).
:cheers::drive:

:have fun:

I'm taking Friday afternoon off and also Wednesday morning, booked the 14.45 tunnel..... Have fun those of you staying at home!!

I'm getting as far away from the Jubilee celebs as possible. I am going to be at Ribblehead and will try to stay away from the TV screen in the bar as much as possible.

We're escaping by heading off to Southwell Folk Festival for the long weekend - folkies tend to ignore royalist gumpf, so I'm expecting a Jubilee-free time - as well as some good music. :)

im woking so no bank holiday here and there will be no royal mail service for 2 days monday tuesday.
