Well we're here. Can't believe it, I'm actually in France!!
Travelled from home to Boulogne sur mer Saturday and from there to Chatellerault on the way south today. The weather was awful this morning so thought we'd chase some sunshine On a lovely Aire tonight only €2.50 a night with free wifi, showers and toilets. Just settled in with a pint and the tv on to watch England play.
Catch you all soon,
Bonsoir

Heading to the coast tomorrow, then going to work our way back up along the coast roads I think. Want to see Honfleur and Brittany and Normandy coast depending on time and last stop Thiepval memorial at the Somme. Drop us a PM n if your near us we'll meet up?

We're there from July 2ns to August 1st.

At the moment my plan is to turn right off the ferry and follow coast roads along through Normandy and into Brittany, stopping at Mont St Michel along the way. Three weeks after we arrive my daughter is flying out to meet us, probably around the Dordogne, from where we'll head north again to pick up the ferry. I want to visit Oradour, the village which was the scene of a massacre during the war and also Agincourt if possible. It's all down to time and fuel costs, although the latter are obviously cheaper there. When we get back I'm planning on either heading for the Campfest in the New Forest if there are spaces, or following the East coast up to north Norfolk, before heading home. x

I hope the weather improves for you.
We are envious of you but have a good time, Normandy and Britany are one of our favourite places, we have had some great holidays over there.
Have a look at Carnac and the Gulf de Morbian.
Safe journey
Lee

Just returned from Normandy via Calais.

I can HIGHLY recommend the municipal campsite at Creully if you want to use a site for a night.

And if you're near Calais later, you should make every effort to go here V2ROCKET.COM Watten Bunker / Eperlecques Blockhaus . It's awesome and chilling.

Regards

Chris

Hi Lotty,
Well done and glad you are enjoying your travels!

An observation - you are now heady towards Normandy at the busiest time of the year - the Aires up on the coast are soon going to be brimming and imho uncomfortable - that's the downside....the upside is that you don't have to stary very far inland to find some truly beautiful and friendly places to stop over. Lots of the small towns will be starting their monthly / bi-weekly fetes / markets.

have fun
