Ive got a idea that I hope will take off!

I think that we should club together and offer assistance in case of an emergency within a suitable distance from the house.
For example:

I have a large drive and live 10 mins walk from Newport town centre, bang on the motorway too, location is awsome. I have an outside tap and a foul manhole cover with easy access on the side also. I would be more than willing for a member to pop along and empty there waste, fill up with water and even camp for a night on my drive should they find themselves in a situation / emergency!
I would also like the thought of knowing that I could if i had to turn to a member should i need to do the same. I am sure that I am not the only one either, and therfore think that we should have a members only area for like minded campers to look out for eachother and offer similar if they can!
whats your thoughts and how do we do it?

Oh yes, I see Jen! well i agree, its deffo a good idea... just thinking about how to go about it!
maybe an alphabetical list of the towns we live in with an email address next to it, where members could email the neccessary contact to get a pone number prior to heading there way? this list could also state what services are offered.
mine would be like this:

Newport - south wales (Post code) - large drive for overnight, drinking water and drainage disposal contact My email address

I think if no one minds i might do this anyway, but i did want to post it somewhere suitable within the forum!

Nice idea, I'm willing to be in, but only one problem....will any of us actually be IN??? Our aim, like most people on here, is to be out as much as possible!! But yes, if we're here we would be happy to help in an emergency, as we have had our MH, a large caravan and the car on the drive. However, for the next couple of months we won't be there, so don't come knocking yet!! Be careful of putting your email address on, though, as you could end up with loads of spam! Make sure you put it in a form that won't be picked up easily - unless you are in desperate need of Viagra or a penis extension!! :sad:

Wish I'd known you 3 years ago....Couldn't find anywhere in or around Newport one night and ended up in the Comet car park. Watched some dodgy deals going on and big hairy arsed Welshmen looking at me in my van whilst speaking into their phones....thought for a minute there I was going to be sold into slavery!:shag:....And I couldn't escape.....the security man had locked the car park barriers. I think I may have got an hour's kip.

I think this is an excellent idea. We're in a quiet area in the Wye Valley and we've loaned our driveway, which is flat and sheltered to three sides, out to campers complete with free hook-up and water in exchange for a reciprocal arrangement.

However, we only have space for a car-sized van eg a Romahome or Suzuki-Carry-sized van, but small vans are welcome by arrangement.

If your passing my way, you are always welcome to fill up with water and there is a large public car park shielded from the A21 200 yards from us plus a very good pub just up the road you could no doubt park in if you go in for a very tasty meal.

Not a place I would like to camp...and i wouldnt reccomend it now some three years on, but thats what im getting at, i have to young ish kids in tow and if I ever needed to find somewhere safe etc for a night I would like to know that there was someone around, we will see how this pans out! there must be a safe and secure way we could advertise our postcode and email addresses for members to get access to?

I know there will be times that people wont be in, what i would probably do is, look through the list, email the relevant member in town, ask if there around, if there not, go to the second nearest etc! I am hopefull that no one would ever need it, and chances are, we wouldnt. but it wouldnt half reduce my concerns!
as for the extensions or viagra, well, ill try anything for the crack!!!

We had this when I owned a Moto Guzzi, there was a basic set of tick boxes next to your name saying what you offered, you could use a similar letter code e.g. M=mechanical assistance, D=driveway parking, S=secure garage parking, B=bed for the night (not really needed for motorhomers), etc.
