Well the time has come to park up my van due to lack of work and getting no dole i cant afford to insure my van so out comes the wagon sheet shes now coverd while its under the tree on the drive so all the plans for this year have gone to the wall.

I could allways sell her as shes a classic but with a short m,o,t, who would buy it if i did it would cost alot more to buy another when i get back on my feet well thats life ( anyone got a tent) LOL.:(

sorry to hear that mate. i no what it feels like been down that road myself when the foundry i worked at shutdown. but things will get better always do

Gutted

I feel gutted for you - only been doing this a very short time ourselves but love it already - yep keep the van as it will take a lot to replace, not just in money terms either.
Take care

I'm also very sorry to hear your predicament. But like most of us of a 'certain age' we've been there as well, and things really do get better..just keep your chin up, and hang on in there !! Good Luck.

Jackie :)

You have my heartfelt sympathy as well, I was there during the last recession and it took a fair old while to get back but I did.
So be positive and go out and get what you can, if even for a few weeks.:(

Hi, that's pretty bad news my friend:(
I take it there are no driving jobs around in your area, I know agency work is a bit thin on the ground but is there nothing at all:confused:
Hope things improve for you quickly:)
Keep your chin up and not such a daft idea to tent it until things pick up:)

it's all gone wrong

hi wigan pier
aint life a bitch you think your doing ok and along comes something to knock you for six.
i live in st helens and used to work for arriva (no not a bus driver).
but seriously i worked for them for 20 years and enjoyed every minute.
arriva are always looking for pcv drivers, and if you havn't got a pcv licence they will put you in for the test, with a bit of tuition.
there are drivers in st helens who started in the last recession (saying it was only temporary) they are still there today.
anyway good luck, and we will see you back in your camper again.

Hi Wigan Pier,

Sorry to hear about your situation, I'm sure things will get better soon. Time to think about a change of career maybe?? What else could you do that is different to what you did?.

I'm redundant myself, used to work in heavy engineering, I've been applying for jobs all over the country, was going to use my m/home to live in if the job was too far to commute.

No replies yet but keep hoping. :) :)

Don't give up your motorhome, put it on SORN, it will cost less to put back on the road than a new m/home.

hi guys & gals thanx for ur support theres so many things going on in my life the wifes realy bad & son is in hospital waiting for a major op half his guts taken away but like eric & ern sang allways look on the bright side of life ( is there one) anyway THANX AGAIN.

Hi Wigan Pier
Sorry to hear your news: we were very moved by the sad events that are testing you right now. We are equally touched by all the messages sent to you by members. It shows that there are a lot of really genuine and understanding people out there - who really feel. Stick with it dear friend. Once you hit rock bottom, the only way is up! Don't sell your lovely van. We have spent many a night in the back garden when we've had not funds for a weekend away - with
the blinds up, you are in your own paradise. Keep positive, and kind regards. wendy & keith .
