I’ve picked it up! Been wending my way back to Scotland via some friends and family (thanks for the stopover suggestions 👍)
All going well so far (touch wood). Been on a site so I could hook up and make sure everything works ok. All good both on and off grid. Dashboard computer thingy says I’m averaging 32mpg, but I’ll do a better comparison when I fill up next time. Nice and warm, fridge/freezer nice and cold. Really pleased so far!

Nice-looking motorhome; make sure you don't lose it!
It looks as though it still has the original Ford-fitted Tibbe locks. These are easily picked using devices available on sites such as Amazon for £25-£30, which can also provide the code required to order a new key. A key or lock pick opening the lock will also disarm a standard alarm system. The key can then be coded to the immobiliser using the OBD2 port.
There used to be a very comprehensive thread in the forums, detailing numerous options for improving security on Transit Mk7-based motorhomes, but it seems to have disappeared.
Solutions included replacing the Tibbe cylinder with one from Hykee or fitting deadlocks to the cab doors, fitting a locking metal box around the OBD2 port, fitting an alarm system that is independent of the door locks. Diskloks and pedal locks can be useful deterrents, but they will not prevent someone from gaining access through the cab doors and stealing contents.

If you search "Tibbe", the are many relevant threads.

Yes, but nothing as comprehensive as https://wildcamping.co.uk/threads/transit-based-motorhomes-being-stolen.49725/ which seems to have completely disappeared.

Had our Ford based Burstner stolen off our drive several years ago. Absolute right PITA:mad:.
Current van has steering lock, modded ODB port, outsmart the thief tracker/ immobiliser and a self built device that sounds a doorbell type ding-dong when the doors get opened.
Stable door and all that I suppose but no one's making off with this current one.

Yes, my first motorhome, Transit-based, was stolen in October 2016. It was a struggle to replace it with something similar, and ended up with one that was not in such good condition and spent ages replacing kit. Now HEOsafe cab door deadlocks (couldn't fit a Hykee cylinder as LHD), OBD2 port protection, VanBitz Growler, Disklok, pedal lock and a few other bits and pieces. Your ding-dong sounds interesting for the hab door.

It's simply a wireless doorbell with a couple of mods.
Pop the PCB out of the bell push button, that gets powered up from the interior cab light. The voltage needs stepping down from 12v to 3v (AFAICR) with a resistor/ 3v zenner or 5 diodes on series. Heat shrink or tape up the PCB before tucking it behind the headlining.

Thanks for the info. I have been looking at beefing up security. I’ll investigate further….

I can only reinforce the urgency of taking protective measures.

There have been numerous reports of motorhomes being stolen where this chassis cab has been used.

I'm open to correction on this point but I believe that some insurers will not insure unprotected vehicles.
