An Isochrone is a line drawn on a map showing how far you can travel from a given point in a given time.

This is very useful if you fancy a quick trip but don't want to drive for longer than an hour.

This site offers free Isochrones in the UK EU and lots more. TravelTime Maps

You enter your start town, and how long you want to travel.

This zoomable map shows where you can get to from Nottingham in 90 minutes

Unfortunately, the max travel time is 90 mins, if you know of a free application that goes beyond this please let me know.

I think 90 mins is no where near enough time to get away from Nottingham.

is that 90 mins on main roads in the brother in laws mid life crisis car in the early hours of the morning , or bimbling down country lanes in the van admiring the views?

personally id find it as much use as a chocolate fire guard, but each to their own.

All Isochrone algolrythms takes account of different times of day and road types. (Otherwise the shapes would be circular). Some allow you to specify speeds for different vehicle types (When I used them professionally we had different speeds depending on whether or not the Blues & Two were being used!)

So don't use them. I just thought some folks might find them interesting. You don't, as you say À chacun ses goûts.
