Hi All,

There are many sites on the Island (Lived there for years). You could go onto culver cliff (Bembridge downs)google maps 50.666519,-1.102345 which is a vast car park with no charges. You have all the space you need. There is a pub the "Culver Haven" on top with parking all around.

There is another site on that route. google maps 50.680498,-1.176653 this is again a steep hill onto the downs and once again has plenty of room but no facilities.

If you want to tuck into a little secluded spot then google maps 50.683571,-1.192499 it is an entrance to a dog walk but is not used much. Nice little spot but no facilities.

At Bonchurch Nr Ventnor there is a nice little spot but no facilities. Google maps 50.606977,-1.18102 This is a free parking area for Bonchurch shute beauty spot.

Just before Ventnor overlooking the sea, Google maps 50.60158,-1.186797 There is a layby.

There's the Buddle Inn at Niton. Google maps 50.578996,-1.291119 The landlord will let you park there if you ask and of course use his pub.

If you head out over the south side of the Island "Back o' the Wight" along the "Military Road" there are many car parks that charge but you are OK overnight. Google maps: 50.604037,-1.337135 and 50.650916,-1.455962 and 50.655154,-1.466417

There are also places along Ryde seafront but you could be disturbed by youths and traffic.

Parkhurst forest, Forest Road near Newport is good but well used by dog walkers early morning and by courting couples at night. Google maps
50.707697,-1.322045
Also in Newport opposite the "Bengal Palace" restaurant on Shide Road. Google maps 50.690128,-1.289024 free car park and good dog walk.

Finally: although there are more (I must get my thinking cap on) there is a lovely spot way out the tourist area at Merstone by the old railway station. Google maps 50.657887,-1.256465

Hope these are OK for you.

Thanks for these suggestions - I will add them to the POI database :)

Regards

Chris
