Isle of Whithorn and Monreith

Hi wilders,

we spent Friday night with 3 other wilder's on the grassy parking area on the Isle of Whithorn, and a nice little place it is to. There is a toilet and water on the carpark, and busy little pub that does food, aswell as a shop at the harbour master's office and showers/laundry also. Highly recommended.

From there we went round to the parking area beyond Monreith golf coarse. The access is a little narrow (although we got through no problem with our A class) but well worth it. Right up to the beach with loads of caves and coves to explore at low tide. Again there was a toilet in a little portacabin with a water tap outside. You could even have a round on golf if you fancy, there is an honesty box outside the club house with score cards and instructions of where to post your fees!!

Thanks for Monreith!

Hi Stu and Lainey,

Just wanted to say a big THANKS for posting the spot near Monreith golf course! We where in the area so I thought I would do a quick search on the forum for places near Whithorn.
What a perfect spot! We parked there New Years eve in our little campervan, had the place all to ourselves, and woke up to beautiful sunshine over the sea on New Years day!

We have only just become members to this site and was one of our first nights of "wild camping" and what a great introduction! Can't wait to try more places!

Just a quick note, the toilet was locked and the tap was disconnected but I assume this is just for winter.

Does anyone know how do we add this to the POI gps downloads?

The gps coordinates are:
54.723702,-4.540701

Thanks again!

PWR,

click on the wildcamping sign top of page, it will reload, and on the right hand side there should be a section you will see poi database and an option to submit a poi

I'm glad you're finding the information useful - this place is already in the POI Downloads so doesn't need adding.

I take it that you've downloaded the files and started to explore the many, many possibilities - well over 3,000 - that are included ...

Have fun :)

Regards

Chris
