Hi - does anyone know of any pubs on the Isle of Skye that welcome overnight parking of a motorhome - will obviously eat and drink there. Thanks.

I can remember the name of the pub, but it was at Dunvegan on the main road, I was there last year and stopped the night. loads of places to stop on skye and had no probs at all :)

it gets very very busy in july and august - doesn't everywhere ....

My friend who moved to Skye 8 years ago reckons it's busier than he has ever seen with motorhomes everywhere all year round.
Fortunately I park up on his property in Glendale on my frequent visits up there.

Stunning place... And weather was very kind

Hi, the last time we wereon Skye we stayed in the car park of Sligachan Hotel, had a really good night, it was New Years eve.

Hi - the suggestion of Sligachan Hotel coincided with my thinking as the pub there looks a good place for a few drinks and something to eat. There is a campsite there but we won't be arriving until around 7 in the evening and guessing mid June it would be full so the Hotel car park would be ideal. There does look on Street map a bit of a lay by further down the road as another option but as first time in motorhome a bit unsure of that.

In Skye at present asked at that hotel yesterday, said we would be having a meal etc was told not really & there was a campsite over the road !!

Thx for the info. Yes can understand them saying that but if campsite is full they may be a bit more accommodating.

If you turn left just before the Sligachan hotel and go up that road towards Dunvegan past the mountain rescue hut, there is a layby set back from the road and hidden by a grass bank on your left with good views over the Cuillins. The entrance is easy to miss so you need to keep a look out, I think it was part of the old road. Don't know if its on the POI's, probably is, but its not too far to walk back to the Sligachan hotel if you want.

We stayed on the Sligachan campsite last august and it was like United Nations and absolutely heaving!!!!

Yes it is in the POIs. It was added over 7 years ago! I can't believe how long it's been since I started the POI databases ...
