hello i am planning a trip to arran in feb and after info on free spots i can park up me motorhome.any info will be much appriciated cheers phil

Hi, you could try Sannox Bay picnic spot. We stayed there last year with no problems.

If you get off the ferry at Brodick follow the road through Brodick to the north of the island and you will see the sign on your right down a lane. Its a bit bumpy and narrow, but we managed ok in a 6 metre van, and its worth it when you get there. Just a few dog walkers in the day but you have the place to yourself at night, right on the sea shore too and a toilet block that I think is open 24hrs. :)

The western coast is more wild than the eastern! From my memory!

As the others have said, plenty of places to park, but beware the roads!!! They are in a terrible state of repair, and you could easily do damage to your motor. Such a shame about the roads, it is a beautiful little island, but many of the locals are leaving because of it. You will notice all the property up for sale.
We were able to get water at the bus garage at Brodick ferry terminal, just by asking politely (tap is just inside the garage)

Off road car parking area on the road over the pass from Sannox to Lochranza.

Isle of Arran

I was born there, best site is in Kildonan (next to Kildonan Hotel, not the same owners as the Hotel). Site right on the beach looking over to Pladda island. More seals to look at than anywhere in the WORLD!!. Turn left at Brodick and stay on the coast road, probably the worst roads in the WORLD!!
You'll love it.

Agree with Kildonan beach, however the parking spot for the beach displayed ,10 years ago when I was last there,No Overnighting signs

Was at hotel last week (previous owners of Hotel kept tittle to camp-site) and they have developed the site, in the last 3 years (there only business interests). it looks realy good, some pretty nice rigs on it last week. Arran had absolutly no snow! But everybodys right about the holy roads!

Arran is a great place and wherever you go you'll be fine.

The Kildonan campsite is actually fab. And while it's not technically wild camping it's about as close as you will get to camping in the wild on a campsite!

Yes the roads aren't great but they won't destroy your van. There are far worse roads in the UK and Europe than Arran.

Go have fun, you'll love it!!
