Isle of Arran

We've had the van refurbished at Timberland so we want to give it a good workout before leaving for Turkey. We have never been to Arran so decided we would have a look at the island. Does anybody have any info on free camping spots or places to visit bearing in mind it will be the last week in October when we are there. Also any info on overnight parking at or near the port of Adrossan.

Loads of places on island, you are best to pick one yourself rather than me name every layby as you can go anywhere. As for the night before the ferry fairlie has a small carpark at the ardrossan end where you can go or the mudhook pub in fairlie has a car park and if you ask they will likely say yes or loads of pretty laybys on the fairlie to dalry road which is very quiet.
Ferry terminal car park an option but not so pretty. Largs sea front nice, leave a good 45mins to make the ferry tho even though its not far.

As a local I have to agree with all of the above, especially about the fairlie-dalry road as it's stunning.
