Hi everyone. Yep back on the site.
Sorry for low involvement have retired and found life sooo busy, sorting life, admin, planning, been away travelling over India, getting MH sorted, welding and electrical repairs needed and a few medical interventions have taken a toll.

Have mentioned it before - but wish to resurrect the discussion.
Last year Greece stopped wild camping, so that caught us as we were travelling to it.
With the reported policing in Spain increasing at coastal stops it seems to me the enjoyment and relaxed travel and turn up approach has gone.

Do you agree or disagree?

Not as seasoned, only been over there twice, might never get there again :( :(

We're missing it today very much, as Liz and I have been having our birthdays over there for the last two years and loved it, wish we'd started sooner, but we have only seen it as it is now more or less, not really had any problems.

I don't know Stan as I've always been happy camping in the UK and I still have a lot of it to see.

Good to see you back though. :)

Greece has reverted back to the old ways.but power given to police to tell you to move if needed.
Spain occasionally has a hissy fit and moves campers from coastal areas.
Personally never had a problem and spend close to half of every year in Europe.
Ps...it rained yesterday in the Alpes

We hadn't been over the water since the pandemic but were long term seasoned Euro travellers before then. Last year armed with a new to us motorhome we did a three month summer trip but stuck to France.

My observations were that there has most definitely been an increase in motorhomes, camper vans and also an influx of car campers all vying for space on Aires and wild camping spots. However we certainly didn't find wild camping in France any more restrictive than it used to be, you were just more likely to have neighbours and not just in motorhomes either.

Our trip was and often are all about the big mountains of the Alps and Pyrenees though so its always been relatively easy to find places such as out of season ski resorts which are often massive.

I don't know if its just me that has become less tolerant though or just the sheer number of vans but I found I fell out of love with some of the Aires. Just too busy and crammed. I think we got used to our five van only network of CL's here which are just fabulous in comparison. People whinge about camping in the UK but the CL and CS network is unrivalled IMO. Helps if you have secondary transport of course which we do.

Europe puts UK to shame in provision of facilities for motorhomes and also much more tolerant of free parking as a rule.. Areas where some clamp downs have happened due to people abusing the area or just sheer numbers causing problems, tend to be along the Costas, which hold no interest for me.
Love the UK as well but don't like sites, and the small field with a tap and dump point are getting harder to find. They are taking the piss in the UK with site fees as well. Whether anywhere will be affordable in 6 months time however, is a moot point.

Answer to OP , totally disagree .
Have not experienced any increase in policing in Spain, or anywhere else . That may be because I'm going to the right places at the right time ?
More importantly, why is this in italics ?

It’s because you’ve hit the sloping I above the reply box.
