is this the reason

This may be the reason that the site has been down

A fire at a Texas data centre known as The Planet
has affected 9,000 servers, bringing down Web pages across the globe..

Yes thats correct.

This site is hosted at the H1 data center that had an explosion and fire earlier in the week. The center is still only running on backup generators.

I have now leased a new more powerful server in the UK and will be moving this site to it in the next few days. This means that there will be further down time.

Hopefully once the move is complete the site should be 100% ok.

site back on

Glad the site is up and running again have a look on the site most evenings and missed reading the posts.Having to work this weekend bit of a waste of the good weather we are having in Cumbria. But have been away alot recently think it's been around 6 weekends since i spent one at home so needs must and all that.Anyway will have to read about other peoples travels for now,Andy.

Since the site has come back online I can't find a few things so would be grateful for any info.

1. The "dedicated" section; I can't see it anymore. I know it caused some debate and disagreement so has it been scrapped as an idea?

2. The scoring system with the coloured bars and medals. There was a thread about it as well but I can't find that anymore either.

3. The poll about whether or not the wildcamping locations should only be accessible via registration and log-in. Can't find it.

My apologies if I'm being a bit dim here, its been a long week at work! :(

This move will cost money, I for one will be willing to donate if the facility is put back.

Same here, we're (me and the mrs.) still very appreciative of this valuable resource.
