Hello from Cologne,

I became a full member some days ago and now I try to find some wildcamping-places for my trip to Raglan/Wales at Easter. How do I find a list or something on this page? If possible step-by-step.

Thank you for the help.

Greetings

Willi

How long are you staying in Wales
I live near Holyhead, Angelesey, North Wales
If you want to stay for a few days free in my driveway, let me know
there are also lots of wild-camping sites near.
Lorry
ps
This offer is also open to all Wildcamping members...

Hi Lorry,....

...thank you, too. We will spend 2 weeks in Wales. We know somebody in
Monmouthshire and will start there. How can I contact you in case of driving north?

Willi

anyone coming down to the gower area i can help with a few nice safe places to stay unfortunatly as where we live only has allocated parking i cannot hep with a place where i live but i know some good places round about

Only sat-nav?

Hello again,

thank you all again for your helpful advices. The poi-list is useful having a sat-nav, I think. I try to borrow one for the easter-holidays.

But how do I find a list about the wildcamping-sites just to read (or with pictures) and using a map? Is it possible on this page? If so, please again step-by-step.

Greetings

Willi

Hi Willi,
We have to wild camp when we visit our parents house in south Wales, because the road down to their house is too narrow, they live in a very small place called Cleddon, there is a waterfall nearby, and we use a large car park, about half a mile away with views of the Wye valley.

The parking area is almost at the top of the hill after turning off the main road (A466) through Tintern signposted for Catbrook (Trelleck Road). Follow the road up the hill until you come to a junction, directly in front of you is a large car park set back in the trees.
I attempted to do a link to Google maps but failed miserably.

Tintern is about 11 miles from Raglan

Hi Willi

The download includes a file to use with Google Earth.

Make sure you have Google Earth installed on your computer, then open the KML file in the Google Earth folder.

Then you can view the locations on your computer, and there are links to Google Streetview too.

There isn't a printable list on this site.

Chris

You'll find the spot here 51.72270, -2.69188 - Google Maps

Thanks for the tip - I've added it to the database :)

hi willi, contrary to a few people i,ve always found the welsh "generally" quite helpfull, for instance, in barmouth we could always park at the end of the sea road, for the sake of a parking ticket, toilet and water nearby, in dolgellau, we just asked the traffic warden if he could recomend somewhere as we liked his town so much we wanted to spend a couple of nights there, he directed us to a car park to the rear of the rugby club, quite and peacefull. as a matter of interest weve found this approach works well most times, rather than being deviouse we just ask outright, weymouth new years eve? right on beachfront, local bussiness, traffic warden, even the local cop, trust me, it makes it easier to sleep at night, even a quite boozer will welcome you overnight if your buying a drink. all the best.

Hello again,

thanks for the help. We will not have an internet-access with us. To keep in contact it would be great to get the mobile-phone-number. If you agree, you can send it to my private-e-mail-adress.

Greetings to all

Willi

i have little use for a moble phone so i dont realy use one ,but you can go in any public library and have the use of the internet free of charge for about an hour ,thats what we used mostly when we were living in our van

You can look at POIs on a computer without a satnav.

Download Extra POI editor from http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor#Extra_POI_Editor-Download
(or http://bit.ly/dROVgW ) and you can see the POIs on a map, but more usefully you can export a kml file and see them in Google Earth.
