Is there a "Stupidest thing I've done" motor home related thread on the site ??

After recently posting my 'leaving the bed roof light on and then shutting the bed up trick' as a sort of embarrassed warning, several of the responses had me laughing out loud .. driving off with windows open, awnings out and lighting the cooker with the lid down ..... and I just wondered if anyone had started a thread before about all the daft things we've done (and can publicly admit to)? If there is could you point me to the link .. if not, then add yours here ...............

I don't remember any particular thread on the topic, but over the 9 years of this forum, I'm sure there has been one somewhere, however it's always good to read this type of thread, because prior to getting my campervan I scoured the threads for tips.

I wasn't disappointed and I have to say I read about several mishaps which thankfully I have been forewarned about and have been able to put a 'reminder' system into operation to hopefully prevent something similar happening to me.

Some people put something across the pedals as a reminder...me I have several of those cheap Asda type coloured travel tags and just wrote the warning on them and attach them to the steering wheel.

So for example when I hook up the electric - one is attached to the steering wheel as below (apologies for the reflection of the wall).

Not yet,but I saw a fellow on site drive of with an external toilet tank still attached. He went round the entire site with it bouncing along behind him until we managed to get him to stop. He was then on the look out for a replacement tank!
I have left rooflights open when driving off. Can't start up with a hook up atttached.

Tried to move off with wheel clamp still fitted ,on my own driveway so only i know...........

Driving in france in our old mercedes self build many years ago I heard a thumping noise from underneath, we were on a busy road so carried on for a bit ...but it got worse so had to stop to find out what the noise was; hubby noticed the passenger wheel was angled and when he jacked it up found the wheel nuts were on the last bit of thread--he'd changed the wheel for the spare at home but hadn't gone to get the nuts tightened! Lesson learnt for life!

Not driven off with hook up attached, but that's probably because I hardly ever go to campsites. The worse thing I did was reversing out of my garden without taking the wife's washing line down, there was a couple of loud crashes & I realised two skylight covers had been taken off, luckily I hadn't got to the Heki.
Once in Spain there was this enormous explosion coming from the van, Yes, I'd lowered the glass without turning the gas off.
I wonder how many 'vanners have done the next trick which I've managed three times. You drive round a bend & the fridge disgorges it's contents all round the van because you hav'nt pushed the catch down.. & on one of these occasions a beer can burst & sprayed the van.
