Take a look at this link as it might be good news for those of us who wish to visit Ireland. NITB Business Insight

For those that actually live in Ireland, it might be worth going along to this meeting and putting forth your views on wildcamping or suggesting they introduce stopovers similar to the French aires?

If anyone does pop along - it will be interesting to read how it all went. :D

•A presentation by the Caravan Club and the National Caravan Council presenting their thoughts on how motor home tourism is developing.

It would be interesting to know how these two bodies reflect the views of the real Motor home users. Not just those who use them as self powered caravan and require fully serviced site services.

It has already been reported on this forum that a delegation from the Caravan Club, gate crashed at town meeting in France demanding that they stop Aires and make all users use Camp sites. The National Caravan Council represents manufacturers and Caravan site owners.

The Motor Caravanners' Club in Northern Ireland have already been the driving force in obtaining Aires in Northern Ireland yet they are not listed as being represented.

This meeting is for Northern Ireland and will have no influence on the situation in the Irish Republic.

The councils in Ireland both sides of the border don't have to worry about their aires etc.m being taken over by diddies as they are all over here.
I do love Ireland though and have spent many months there both in the army and afterwards as a civilian. In or out of uniform I was mostly made very welcome.

Even more reason for those who reside in this part of the world and who enjoy the freedom of wildcamping, to go along and attend this open event. ;)

Unless we fight our corner, we stand no chance of things improving or progressing!

Shall we all meet up in Ireland and have our say????

This matter is also being discussed on FACTS and a member in NI has offered to try and attend. He is asking for PMs for points to be raised if that is possible.
