Inverter

Hello
Want to buy a small inverter just to charge my netbook.
Any experts out there any suggestions. Do I need a pure sine inverter and what size would be adequate.
Thanks

With my notebook in the motorhome I use a normal generator not a pure sine one to charge it, so I don't think you need pure sine. In terms of what size - if all you want to do is charge the computer one that pluugs into your 12v should be sufficient, BUT I bought a 300W inverter from maplins a month or so ago which is way more than I need and it was only about £30 on a special offer. Hope this helps!

maplins currently have a promo at £19.99 150 watt modified sine wave which will do just fine ...does my 17 inch laptop!

Why not just get a 12 volt laptop power supply, these come with various connectors & yu can adjust the voltage to what you need. I got mine from Maplins & it goes up to 20 volts output.

As Kontiki says why step up from 12v to 24ov to then step down again to 16-19v?????????

Simply buy a Maplins variable laptop supply (especially when they're on offer) and use half the power - mine works perfectly and no need to run the engine!

I have an Acer netbook that I use when travelling and I just did a search on ebay and bought a 12v travel adaptor for £6 delivered..works perfectly and much easier on the vehicle than an inverter..:)

Maplin Mini Inverter

Disscontinued (so they can sell the more expensive dedicated laptop chargers?) but only £15 in store while stocks last ...

120W Ultra-Slim Air and 12V Invertor : Maplin

Ive had two for two years and have charged everything I have thrown at them ... they sometimes trip when power hungry laptops are used with discharged batteries, but they always charge the battery when laptop is off.

they power panasonic and canon mains only battery chargers and many other things too ;)

Kensington do a £60 version too
