Thanks Bill, you are correct, I will not be using EHU so not a concern.Tim my only concern here is you should never start your engine whilst plugged into EHU it can damage your mains charger and ir split relay. But as you are not engaging the mains charger I don’t see why not. I think this may be why you have reservations about doing this.
I've started to do that Rob.Now I think more about it, I will actually be doing this myself in order to heat the water whilst driving.
My water heater takes I think about 680 watts and my alternator is pumping out 720 so job a good 'un
Yes sorry here too Jeff. My B2B will charge at up to 50A so I don't think that the wattage matters.Sorry Rob 72 amps
If your wattage doesn't matter, give yourself more payload, and leave it at ohm ...Yes sorry here too Jeff. My B2B will charge at up to 50A so I don't think that the wattage matters.

I have used a 30A Votronic for years Rob. At one point I was thinking of adding a second one bu was never sure what ca[acity I had on my alternator so never botheredWhen Merl did my installation I asked him to set it to 40A in the B2B Neil, just to be easier on the Alternator. I reckon though now that it's Winter I will set it at maximum which is 50A for my B2B.
Yes.
Abouthalf an hour RobHow long does your water heater take to get up to temperature Jeff?

We're about the same, except that I wait until we're on site/aire to switch the Truma on; and have a fresh brew of coffee and a few minutes relaxation whilst the water heats up ...Abouthalf an hour Rob
