It may depend on your inverter. While you are driving your alternator will be putting 13.5 v into the leisure batteries - some inverters cannot cope with more than 12.7 v and will either cut out or overheat. Our old inverter used to overheat but our Sterling Quasi Sine wave one is happy up to 15v input.
