Insurance...

Hiya virgil

difficult one to answer as what is right for one is not right for the other. Me personally hate brokers prefering to deal direct with insurance companies. A quick call to the major insurance players will put you on the right track. Admittedly brokers save the leg work but if you don't mind doing the leg work ( phone calls ) you can save money.

If it's a home conversion, which I know from experience are difficult, try CIS.
Caravan Club can be good.

when we bought our van to do the conversion the only one a broker could find for us was norwich union and they wanted a fitted cupboard, water system and bed before they would cover us. there was also a restriction of 4k miles a year. [never did work out how they would know if we did more]
a friend said try NFU.
I did and we have never looked back [or gone elsewhere]
in fact i put my car with them too and the 2 vehicles [on seperate policies now with 2 sets of NCB] on fully comp were less than the one with norwich union.
the best bit was no must haves.... and no mileage restrictions.
and it has gone down every year but one and that was when I moved from a very quiet rural area into a more urban one [more risk I suppose]
as a mutual they pass a lot of profit back to their policyholders so i get a great deal and a chunk off every year.
the one thing with them.. they are very postcode concious so not much use if you are in a big town or city but worth a try [especially if you have a relative that lives in a very rural area]]]

HI
I, ve been using adrian flux for a few years ,tried a few but they seemed to be the best ,they wanted photos of the van to ensure that it was as i said it was ,never had a claim so don,t know what the after sales are like

Ive been using flux as well but now have gone for a classic insurance rather than a moterhome one, and its 1/2 the price

eeerrrrrrrrrrr

How do you go on renewing if your full timing you dont have a post code ??????????????????

Location, location, location.....

Can you not try the following ... Relations address? P.O. box number?

insurrance

Hi there, I had insurrance years ago with A Flux, on a TR4, all the picture thing, and club value etc. Well it did take a big knock one day, and did
A Flux ever try to get out of paying, The TR4 was a total rightoff due to some asshole driveing phone using HGV driver. Well Flux at one point even had the nerve to say it was not the same car as per the pictures.
It took one year and court action to get the money out of them, Would never use A Flex again.
I have placed my roadster on frence insurrance, far better cover and they pay up to when things go wrong.

Insurance

My Insurance always falls in June, when I am always away. I contact the Norwich Union, inform them, arrange the premium to be paid on a particular date. They send me a letter stating my Insurance is continued from that date on until the following renewal date. I instruct the Bank to make the payment on that date. Problem solved.

Insurance

After buying a Bongo the club suggested Lifesure of St. Neots Camb's which were far cheaper than anyone else. Since selling the Bongo and buying a motorhome they were still only £249 FC!!! info@lifesure.co.uk to email for a quote. P.S. They are also cheaper than Tesco & Post Office for my partners Frontera!

Ide welcome advise from anyone that can help me get my premium down. I have a Renault master conversion valued at £3000 and due to me working in the "entertainment" proffesion I pay £1500 a year and thats with a 45 % reducton for being a new customer ??? admittedly that is fully comp but its all a bit irrelevant as the more you claim the more my premium will rise....or am I wrong ???? My van is looking a bit of a state after a scrape with a fence but after a quote for £500 for a cash bodge job or £1500 for a pro insurance job im a bit in limbo ??? your thoughts would be really welcome

Premiums

With premiums like that I would suggest that whoever you go with make sure you can get one with protected No Claims, at least you could have your repairs done without doubling next years premiums!

Insurance

I have just changed my Insurers from Agents to direct. Norwich Union gave me two policies, one for car= £187.99, one for MH=£178.65. Funny, MH is cheaper than car, considering the large difference in value. Excess on both vehicles is £100. Compared to Roifromwales, £220, seems I am paying a lot more, but then I am happy with the amount.
Saga and Tesco (on line) quoted me the same for the MH, but higher on the car. Like someone mentioned in one of the post, Postcode and city dwellers could push the price up. Happy hunting Folks!!!!!

Just gone on-line to Norwich Union, & there is no area for Motorhome quotes, nor anything thrown up when I use the search facility???

Insurance

My renewal is with MCIA (NIG) quoting £233, (£23000 Autosleeper) up £10 on last year. Which isn't bad, but I also tried Saga, same cover etc. for £172.46, but before I could snatch their hand off, I had to ring them, because of an SP30 (2003) (Motorcycle) to declare it. This sent the premium up to £240 plus, Out of all the ins companies I've tried, Saga is the only one to penalise for having 3 points, & that applies (to them) for 5 yrs.
On another M/home forum, I was directed to NUF. They wanted over £400.
It really is, swings & roundabouts.
I think MCIA gets it again, until my "points" are wiped.

Hi Graham,
India??? Hope it was free-phone. LoL
Like I said Saga gets my dosh, when the "points" are wiped.
