Be good if wife could share driving down to spain especially on the long motorway stretches as she's not that confident on the minor roads.
But she's worried that if she's named on van insurance that if I became incapacitated through illness or injury that she would have to drive the van for a longer time possibly all the way home from spain. At present breakdown service would recover us
Anyone have experience or knowledge about this.

Tia.

Good question, I normally put my wife on the insurance as it lowers the premiums, particularly on my car, though she will never drive it, she's not driven a manual for 12 years now and says she won't.

Would be worth a check but I think there was something on ours which said that if driver was sick, it would be covered if the other driver waS not confident to take over?.As we were in that position last year, and I thought I would have to drive new van back from Portugal. I did drive in the end for first week but Dave was able to drive after that, just did much shorter trips. I think it's reasonable to say she drives short distances in UK but not happy abroad or long distance.

Spoke to saga and they can't give a definite answer just that it would be up to whoever had to deal with a claim their end if wife would have to drive.

Joking aside I am with comfort and the policy covers any driver with the correct licence to drive it in an emergency. Even though the wife is a named driver.

If you broke down anywhere why would you say it's your wife that's with you?.
Might be wife no2 or some dolly bird:p
oh heck what a flap, being caught on the hope. please come back. its only a blo-- up, and im out of wind" baby come back". ok pj
