This was discussed briefly in another thread recently which I can't find.

My policy has come up for renewal, but I don't get NCD (This is through Markerstudy via AIB). They are quoting £309 which includes the WC discount but I am waiting to hear if they have included the £30 'December discount' which is on special offer.

Does this sound expensive or can I do better and get NCD elsewhere? The van is a self build Renault Master (2012) approx value £12000.

Any input gratefully received.

Well i'm with comfort who dont do no claims bonus and i have none now due to them but i will go with comfort again

...apparently the £30 December offer was for a second vehicle policy so does not apply.

Watch for green card mines a year although i do have breakdown with comfort as well

Have to say although comfort dont give no claims bonus you can include recovery for vehicle with policy and being all in black and white there is no get out clause and they were using AA service in europe and i know that from 1st hand experience and cant fault them

Comfort lost me 11yrs NCB . I will not be using them again
But they tell you they dont do NCB anyway so you are fully aware and i have lost mine but cant knock them on their service - and you only have to move the insurance after 2 years for NCB to remain intact so you cannot really moan about it

They should be able to let you have evidence confirming how long their policy has been in force and any claims that may or may not have been received. Other insurers may or may not accept this as evidence of no claims discount. Not had to test myself but was my understanding when retireng from insurance 6 years ago.

Comfort start from scratch so irrespective of what you had or not you risk it all which you are made aware of anyway - certainly not happy losing no claims but am happy with their service

AIB did say that if I were to leave them they would be able to provide a letter stating how long I had been with them and that I had not claimed.

They are looking favourite at the moment I have had other quotes now but they have been higher.

We were with Safeguard, and when we sold the motor home and cancelled the insurance we got a letter stating how many years we had accrued. If it’s a mirrored policy with your car then they don’t usually give NCB, and I don’t think it worked out cheaper anyway.

Got the one car with two drivers, so each year swap in whose name the insurance is with.
Last year the OH insured it. This year I am insuring it (bought new insurance today as it happens). That way each of us keeps our NCD running as within the 2 year period.
(MH is with Comfort, so no NCD transferred to or accrued with them)
