Installing an Auto Changeover Relay in our Motorhome with help from Geeky Philip

We upgraded our Campervan with an inverter and asked our good friend Geeky Philip come around to help us install an auto switching relay that allows us to use the sockets in the van through the inverter when not on electric hook up. This now allows us to use my coffee machine and Lyndsay's hair straighteners through the sockets in the motorhome when we're off grid and not on electric hook up.

Liked Phils Fluke meter, must have cost an arm and a leg.
I have had a Fluke for 30 years now, still going strong.
But it's a toy in comparison to Phils.

As a child I played with instruments my Grandfather had for testing steam engines. It was a revolving drum pulled by the piston stroke with the steam pressure pushing a marker pen up and down marking a paper. Did not mean a lot to me but it was a beautiful instrument made of brass and enclosed in a mahogany box.

My father in law was RAF Radio & Wireless and I'd always hoped to inherit his pre WWII AVOmeter as a memory of him. Sadly, my mother in law was forever tidying things up and she binned "that old thing that nobody wanted."

I have the same meter The thing I thought was really neat is the red probe has a test button in it, so you can hold two probes as you test and not need to push the button on the meter.
