I've been visiting this site for a few weeks as a free member.

I've posted, watched and read to see if the Wild camping community is worth spending £15 on.

I must be honest everyone who has answered me have been helpful curteous and informative and reading other threads there are to be some pretty knowledgable and experienced folk on here.

Some people seem to spout off about politics on here which has nothing to do with motorhomes which is quite annoying but live and let live I suppose.

Overall you seem a pretty good bunch and I've learnt a lot from you already. Although I am an experienced Caravaner for 30 years I've only been a motorhome owner for 5 months and I love it so much already it is very different. You guys also gave me the confidence to wild camp for the first time, now we go wild camping most weekends.

One question I would still like to ask is What exactly is a POI file and how does it work.
I have not got a sat nav so can I use a POI file and if I decide to buy one how would that work?

Well more that one question but you know what I mean.

Thank you in advance.

Hi welcome to the site, the POI file are places that you can wildcamp all over the country, if you dont have a sat nav you can download the file and use it on your computer in Google Earth or Autoroute etc, there is also a link so you can download wildcamping to your Smart Phone.
I have only been a member for a few months but I find the POI file very good it shows you some great places to park.

Happy MH.

HI, Hello and welcome to the site :welcome:

the POI's or "Points of Interest" are as said above are places you can wildcamp all over the uk. These are compatable with some sat nav devises and can be downloaded to alert you as you are driving around. You can also use them in google earth.
The £15 fee to join as a full member and have access to 3500 wilding spots is a bargin and is less than one nights stop on a campsite.
We too only started wilding last year, but thanks to this site spent 7 nights out in September and only went on a campite for 1 night and at that cost £25!!
Enjoy your travels

To be fair, you have probably already had £15 worth of answers to you questions:lol-053:
I don't think you need to ask as you already know:wave:
One nights camp site fee!! a no brainer!

You are probably right about the £15 worth of questions being answered already and many of them by yourself including some great info on aires. Many thanks.

I am about to join and hope I can help add some locations to the list.

We used it a lot in wales, not just to find places to overnight but also to find places to stop for an hour or two during the day

Good point - and one I've mentioned before ...

How many times have you been travelling, not necessarily in your motorhome, and wanted somewhere nice for a picnic lunch, a walk and a snooze?

In fact, almost all types of sat nav - notably NOT Snooper devices ...

Navman and poi's

I have a Navman N60I and they install on my o.k.
