Thetford have launched the iNDUS System. Supposed to be better for off grid use as it uses grey waste water to flush the loo. It also comes with an App ;) Have a look HERE
They estimate that the average MH empties the black waste every 2 - 3 days. I know when we are using ours for everything it gets emptied most days. Can you imagine a family of four. You have to go to a service point to empty it which does not really work on some sites and means putting everything away to move. Ok on a serviced pitch but a bit useless otherwise. The blurb seems to show a bigger holding tank but you still have to empty it at some point. Might as well just have two cassettes. Everything is linked into a fresh water and sanitation system so even more to go wrong. The app does have a list of dump points that are available. Talk about reinventing the wheel all they have done is made something that is simple very complicated.

You’re right about using an extra cassette. To make it easier wilding - I’ve got 3 just in case, and regularly need to use a second.

It's a 'modernisation' of standard US style RV systems. These use a black tank, great for use in US where just about every site has facilities, not quite so good for europe as there are less places to empty, but there are still european manufacturers who make vans with black tanks.

I only tend to use small hand sprayer rather than wasting clean water on it unless plentiful with a disposal close by

We had a Winnebago a few years ago, no trouble emptying the black and grey tanks in Europe but in the UK it was a nightmare. Elsan points on campsites are generally located at waist height or in a separate room. Useless unless you have a macerator with a pump to pump the waste out.
I can’t see many people buying into the iNDUS system till the infrastructure is in place to use it fully ( bit like electric cars........)

From my understanding - you only have one waste pipe. Your black waste is treated by the Indus system and can be disposed off down any grey waste all automatically. I thought it was quite a good idea. Technology moves forward.

Just had a look at the website. It does look like a very good system as long as you can find an emptying point. I like the flush using the grey waste, a good water saving.

Having looked again and on checking the news releases, this is not quite correct, the only treatment of the black tank contents is the maceration. They are assuming you can empty a black tank down a grey drain, that's also not quite correct, on some site you can, others specifically forbid it.
p.s. I should clarify, it does add similar to standard chemicals, but these at present are formaldehyde based at present, green ones to come sometime.

One of the CL sites we use the owner is happy for us to let the grey water drain into the horse field. Don't think they would appreciate 50ltr of Black Waste. Pipe work looks very complicated and what do you do if it stops working. At least with the old fashion one you can continue to use it just by pouring some water down.

With what little water is needed for a normal flush is it really any great saving? But maybe more useful for those really messy jobbers? 🤣

I had a US RV with a about 250ltr black tank ( + same size grey) , but it needs to be that sort of size to make up for the lack of places that you can easily access dump facilities.
