If my wife wasn't allergic to horses, I'd have a bow top wagon...

My mother's family were horsemen, ploughmen, cavalrymen, mounted policemen and coachmen, so it's no wonder I have an affinity for heavy horses, especially as I've spent much of the last 24 years introducing children to Shires as part of their visits.

As horses are out of bounds I've ended up with a motorised home instead of a horsedrawn one, but that doesn't make the experience of being on the road any less enjoyable, as I'm sure most on here will agree. For me it started when I was 16 and I was off hitching round the Country every weekend in Summer, but the urge to get away is still there and I'm sure I made the right decision when I wanted to buy a motorhome as I retired.

One of the advantages is that you don't need to go far to get a change of scenery. The view from neighbour's bungalow roof, but drive round the corner and park up and the view from my window is very different, ranging all the way to the Cambrian mountains in Wales, about fifty miles away. I love being able to drive about five miles and have nothing high between me and the Peak District. Just being out is enough to relax me, so that I can sit and read a book or watch wildlife.

That's what owning a motorhome represents to me, but what about my wife? She likes not having to look for a loo!!!!!!
