If anyone is in France right now, stay put.

It's Ascension weekend. Four aires we tried were absolutely jam packed, before lunchtime. We have found a place on a campsite, not what we had planned, but it's a place to stay. I'm considering staying tomorrow too (ferry on Saturday) in case we can't get anywhere else - in France of all places.

I've never seen anything like it.

Is anyone on the aire in Calais?

We've travelled from La Rochelle to Saint Jean D'angely this morning and we've never seen so many motorhomes on the move, virtually every 4th vehicle was a MH, its gradually been getting busier all week.

Oh .........and its better weather at home 🤔🤔😩

Try Bastille day 14th of July in Annecy. :D

I remember it well from one of our early trips there. Every single bit of spare tarmac had a motorhome on it. It was scorchio hot and the lake was in danger of overflowing from all the people in it. :ROFLMAO:

Actually its one of my fondest memories of France and our early days touring there. Such a brilliant party atmosphere. Just scootered about all day and enjoyed all the festivities. Fireworks all over on the evening and went swimming pissed at midnight. Good thing about France is you can escape all that if you want, head for the mountains or the middle of nowhere.

Same in Holland. Plan was to go on the ferry to Texel for a few days but every place we phoned was fully booked so we decided to stay put on the lovely little aire we were on on the mainland until after the weekend. Shame on us that we didn’t realise it was Ascension Day today bridging into a long weekend!
