So you just spray it on and be totally confident that it is going to do the claimed job for how long exactly? 100 yards, 1 mile, 100 miles?

Haamster the one you refer to is 'Winter Tyre Grip'....cheaper copy product similar package colour....no idea about that one...I'm always wary of cheaper copy products as there as so many of them in the grocery isles which are crap...I've unfortunately picked up a few of those when rushing in to buy something lol...as I'm sure many of us have....anyway I used this last year to rescue a car stuck in snow on their way to attend a wedding...they were using standard car tyres....I had it on my daughters car tyres too...yes it helps and lasts according to the blurb about 50 miles before wearing off....I imagine if your journey is mostly intermittent ice and tarmac (not snow) then probably one journey is all you would get before you would have to reapply the spray...I found the can lasted roughly the same as if you were spraying the shine on your tyres walls...

Anyway easier than snow socks and chains...and I was impressed enough to buy two more cans (I live on a sloping street)... there's also an Italian one and I think a Swedish one similar....liquid snow chains or something it's called....no idea about those either...

Viktor,

Is it a resin spray ? like they showcased on Topgear some years ago

Hi Haamster - it is a trademarked name....I actually emailed about local supply...just internet for the moment...Tyre Grip is an international firm and I gather there is a legal situation ongoing with Winter Tyre Grip copying the name and the similar packaging....strange as I would have thought that for example a toothbush is not copyrighted so the idea of a spray couldn't be copyrighted either...so why would the firm copy an established product...why not just name it something different?...not my brand lol...wish it were....but I wouldn't mind selling it!

Well Viktor it certainly looks similar even down to the name which is strange because you would have thought it is a Trademarked name. Could it be supplied to Europarts by the same people possibly.
Winter Tyre Grip 400ml | Euro Car Parts UK

Interestingly Amazon are selling your brand £2 cheaper than the manufacturers.
Might give it a try.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tyre-Grip-Black-Ice-Protection/dp/B002WBEPRO

Amazon is £16-95 a can, Europarts £9!!

Amazon in many cases is not the cheapest place to buy stuff, in fact what we list on Amazon is in many cases dearer than on our website as Amazon selling commission is HIGH!

Peter

Lol...just to clear things up....Tyre Grip is the original international product....Winter Tyre Grip is a similar 'copy' cheaper product from a company based in England

also just checked Amazon out of curiosity - £19.94 inc postage...don't know if that is vat inclusive either lol...I paid £18.90 each all in postage included.

I have read round various reviews and most people seem to say it works well but the claims of 50 miles are exaggerated. Estimates of peak efficiency seem to vary from 1 mile to a few miles. On that basis, it is a very expensive fix.

Ah but Viktor you bought 2 tins at a cost of £18.90 each making a total of £37.80

Now if you had bought 2 tins from amazon at £16.95 and paid postage £2.99 the total is £36.89

C'mon you silly old fool you've wasted 91p admit defeat :mad1:

I forgot to say "Thanks" to you Viktor for recommending this and giving your experiences with it on the "Christmas Presents" thread a few weeks ago! I bought a can direct from the supplier and it was delivered within two days. Luckily I haven't needed it yet, as obviously I can't open the package until Christmas Day!

As for value for money, I'm not planning to rely on it for travelling great distances. But if it manages to get me out of trouble on the odd icy hill etc so that I can get home, then it will be worthwhile. I'll add a comment on here if and when I use it. It would be handy if anyone else would also add comments if they use it.

You're Welcome Scampa....I just wish that poor girl might have had a can and used it.....it might have meant the car wouldn't have ended up in the canal....I'd bet they were ordinary tyres and not winter tyres too...very sad...

No it wears off....but you don't need to spay it on heavily either...just a coating as if you were spraying air freshner on the wheels...you still need to drive sensibly though..... it doesn't glue you to the road....just helps!
