I want this van

1963 its an omen classic year Jenny ..........it could be a wedding gift ( from you to me )

Not sure about the Rolls Royce endorsement though, I always believed the only company that enjoyed official endorsement was Brough Motorcycles of Nottingham ( Lawrence of Arabia was killed on one )

Apprently the bikes were described by the press as the RR of motorcycles and so Rolls Royce sent one of their chaps to Haydn Road in Nottingham to see what the fuss was all about;

As fluke would have it Brough were preparing a bike for the 1935 Earls Court show and the bike was assembled using white gloves .....the mentioned chappie returned to Derby mutterd something along the lines of 'by eck me ducks they do summat we dont ' and thats were the story of Rolls Royce motor cars and white gloves comes from ......and an official endorsement..

I guess nowadays they endorese summat German :idea-007:

I would love it - when there are no more of these left 867163-bedford-dormobile-camper-van.jpeg Love the sliding front doors, remember driving with them open:scared:

I Think the engine would need a lot more power for todays roadways, however I met this dutch guy in Bruge in December and would love to have his van.

ahh remember it well, driving through spain in my old j1 in just shorts with the sliding door locked back! also remember severely sunburnt right arm and leg and being dark brown on one side of my body and pale and sick looking on the other.what a knob i was

I looked at the advert. The blurb said something about being able to specify a bath when it was new if you wanted. I would have loved to see how they would have fitted that in!!!!

I bet it would have been interesting driving along with a bath full of water, especially if the missus was in it at the time! Imagine if you had to brake suddenly :scared:

:DHi Jenny, Happy whatsit. I went to have a look at this one last night eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace
It is drop dead fanbloodytastic inside. and is in very good all round condition. Great for one person but unfortunately my daughter has put a block on it for me. she says there are too many old crocks around our place as it is. Can't think what she means except for the moggy and the spitfire :D:lol-049:

hi donkey too. thats real nice ./ i,ve always wanted one . if it was going for that it would be ideal. there used to be onein falmouth , always talked to the owner thought they might offer it to me if it was to be sold . then one day it went . talked with the owner and they thought as i had a later vw i wouldnt want the early one.
the only trouble is not much payload for the size .
but be interesting to see what it fetches .

hi *****. i have an old roadline box in my back garden. was a kind of camo green big white lettering . small world . bought it for a fiver from down pentewan garage . had to hiab it in . getting abit ricketty now but think ive had it about 20yrs.

you big bunch of softies:wacko: nowt wrong with a bit of nostalgia.

Like cars modern ones are far more efficient than those of yesteryear , but yesteryear hits the heart chords?

I remember my dad driving a tranny with the engine between the seats perhaps it was a bedford...but I clearly remember him putting hot cross buns on the engine cover en route to Sheffield to deliver our bread .

Doncaster sheffield hot cross buns still warm all the way from Donny to Sheffield all from the heat of an engine cover.

Happy days of innocence and not a care in the world ....I miss it and I guess todays young suspect I have lost the plot

Keep your Ipod Iphones etc ....................Teabreak 6.30 am with your dad , penknife slicing the buns in half bit of butter what is better ?

Even the crack around my bonce leaving a bit, or moaning it was freezing didnt dull the magic.

Happy Happy days

Yes this one was built in S Africa and there were quite a lot there evidently . The guy who is selling it imported it from there and had it refurbished in the workshops on Lakenheath AF Base. He runs the English Post Office on the base.
At any time there are always a few classic cars being done up there as the Yanks are mad about them they have a purpose built workshop provided by the US AF. and even tech support. Money no object.
I wonder if they could covert an ambulance for me?amulance.jpgView attachment i want one.bmp:lol-049:
