Hi folks, anyone been and wildcamped? Thinking about July 2010 for Hols. Any tips welcomed.:)

We went in may and then again in july-august no problem finding places to stop point of Ayre is nice and quiet no problems no good if you dont like being on your own in the dark tho at night. Another good spot was Ramsey where if you go to the town hall with your documents you can get a pass to camp next to the big park and lake its a nice spot with fresh water and dumping point.

Hi Enzo,
I live on the IOM, and you can park more or less anywhere you wish. As was said before, Ramsey has a nice free camping area, overlooking the sea, beside a boating lake, cafe, park,wc, gardens, also close to the new swimming pool, with showers if thats all you require, and 2 mins walk to Ramsey town and harbour. Also there is the Sulby Claddaghs another free campground, popular places are the Point of Ayre, Smeale, Ballaugh beach, Kirk Michael beach, in fact most of the beaches, etc, etc, There are however, campsites in Douglas(Nobles park), Peel, Kirk Michael(Glen Wyllin), Laxey(very small), Hillberry near Douglas, Glen Lough(Douglas to Peel road). l have never known anyone being moved on for camping anywhere on the Island. l have many friends with MH, and they often go to a different town for a night and park up somewhere suitable for free. Come along, and if the weather is kind, you will enjoy yourselves, and our hospitality. TT is around the first 2 weeks in June, if you don,t like crowds and bikes, avoid.
Craig.

Hi again Enzo,
If you send me a pm, l will give you more information with pleasure.

OMG 340 sqid for the ferry - Heysham to Douglas - that's an awful lot of money :-(

Hi Chrissy,
what size of MH did you ask for? And when did you want to go?
Craig.

Thats the only problem with the IOM the ferry price it is very expensive for such a short crossing but it is a beautiful place to go we had good weather when we went. The weather changes so fast the first day we got there it was lashing it down but by dinner it was like being somewhere else it was really sunny.
