:lol-053: Hello!!.. Epic trip to Tain and back...Well,at least it was once we left there...gearstick fell off at a roundabout (which was welded after same thing happened on test drive..weld doesnt stick to cast lol)..squadron of police, complete with blue flashing lights were called on us..they were informed that gypsies were having a picnic on the actual roundabout!! Got rescued by Berties previous owner and towed to the garage, who put in a makeshift gearstick (a welded pole and tape for comfort lol)..could have been towed straight home by the rac but that would have meant no stoppover ...chilled out on a beach whilst Bertie was being sorted,.then got to morrisons at Inverness for supper and supplies, carried onto Lochness, found a nice site in a riding school (would have been difficult wildcamping with Bertie plus 2 tents to pitch at 11pm)...checked out the lake (next day)..tried out the inflatable kayak, paddled across Lochness,:boat: got eaten alive by midges..but still smiling:lol-053:...weather held out mostly..had recorded how things in Bertie went, but missed how to put the plug sockets on..got to christen the oven though..first to use it inspite of it being 30 years old!..took the coastal path coming home..fell in love with north Scotland..wow the scenery!!..Bertie had a bit of a tiff with someone and lost a wing mirror,so he,s sporting more tape!.Cefn did the Bertie driving (my hero:bow:.)..took 15 hours to come back, then after a good sleep was just in time to see the oylimpic torch pass through Leicester!!

lol, yes it certainly was!! will try to put a pic up of offending gearstick, but apparently it had come apart years ago and been welded then,in the same place it went when i did the test drive..new welding had held but it went again a bit further down and i was told it wasnt suitable to weld to cast.,hence the new pole..vans a Tabbert Condor 510, 1981 so bits will be hard to source, but looks like if the pole can be cut down then the original stick can be welded onto it making it easier to reach ,because the angles would be right...

Hmm, Tain, ahh yes, home to the "Twelve men" & their subtle Malt whisky, "Glen Morangie" - all the mareting makes it sound like a traditional distillery in an isolated spot on a wee moorland road. In fact it's a giant factory just outside a decent sized town on the coast! But the Whisky's fine if you like Speyside malts.

Sorry, got a bit carried away. But yes, that NE coast of Scotland is beautiful & far less touristy than the west coast. Bog Myrtle is supposed to be good midge repellant if you an find any, but I usually take my Missus along as it seems she tastes nicer & they leave me alone.:lol-053:

Glad you had a good trip - now you can look forward to many more!

Edit; maybe carry a short bit of copper pipe for emergency gearstick repairs? Just jam it over the stump & it should get yo home!

Hi Morgan, i,m fine thanks,you?..oh yes, been having a blast lol, just itching to start getting things how i,d like them to be inside, change curtains, recover upholstery etc,but i,m not going to do any of that until brakes and gearstick are sorted, also have to make sure i know how everything works inside being as i,ve only ever sat in a motorhome before and not had to worry about any of it..oh yes, have to get an ignitor for the heater too.but i,ll get there and make it homely...
