Hymer waterpump

I have owned campers and motorhomes for many years now, starting with a VW split windscreen camper, which I wish I had now, worth a small fortune. Next was a Transit Dormobile. We then went through a period of renting, until we bought our own again, starting with an A Class Chausson Bora. Next came another A Class, a German BaWeMo. Our latest aquisition is a Hymer B584, which we are thrilled with. We have never had a problem with our water systems, draining them out at the end of the season, and then flushing them through at the start of the next season. I have just read John Wickersham's article in the Dec.MMM on water systems. He really does not like submersible pumps, as fitted on my Hymer. Now, I am really worried. Has anyone out there had any problems with their Hymer water systems, and if so, what was the remedy? Is it worth changing the system, and if so, is it easy?:( :( :(

water pumps

Hi, like all things if it works leave well alone. There have been tales of hymer pumps going down. Fitting an external pump is not a big job, one just needs to cut into the system and take the power feed connections from the old pump to the new one. Remember if you fit outside, ie under the floor you will need to insulate the pump. If fitted under a seat etc, a bit of sound proofing is all thats needed, maybe just box it in to look nice. Not a big job, and few tools needed.

Hi Boatman,

John Wickersham can be a bit of an old woman at times, don't worry just get on with your motorhoming and enjoy yourself.

Thanks Don & Terry for your replies. I did have a similar thought about JW, afterall Niesmann+Bischoff and Hymer are not exactly at the budget end of the market. I have always had my doubts about some of the views of MMM over the years. Boatman
