Does anyone know anything about these? There doesn't seem to be much information on the net.

Thanks for the link.

I noticed that you seem to have done a lot of work on yours, was it difficult to source parts and also did it cost an arm and a leg to sort it out?
Cheers, John

it is not mine it was just a link to help you out the site is one I suggest you join and ask questions there

OK Thanks

I think that's the one I've seen for sale int he Shetlands. I'm asking because I'm thinking of buying one that is for sale locally and although everything seems OK and I've had a test drive and run the damp meter over it, there is some bubbling on the wings and I don't want to end up with a massive repair bill after buying it. The only two on the net are this one and the one I'm looking at, which indicates to me that they may be expensive to repair and people scrap them, but it could also indicate that people keep them.
Cheers, John

well look at reg number that will tell you or buy a different one that you can get more info on if you are not sure what you are buying ,You could ask about hymer in general ,build quality, the chassis it sits on is probaly a standard chassis ,either long short or extended, then it is down to engines ,pug or fiat or whatever else they use ,so do research that way.split it up chassis engine body then make your decsison based on what you find out

My second mh was a Talbot express
with the highwayman body I did all
my own work on it it had the 2.0 litre
petrol in it so you can imagine that when
one came in a scrap yard near to me
you had to snap the parts up very quickly
but as I remember the talbots are a very
reliable vehicle

There are lots of talbot variants still out there and some are mint, but by the age alone corrosion on body panels as to be expected as said scuttle panels, door bottoms and wheel archers but nothing a good back street body guy can't sort at the right price
But these faults are there to be seen and can reflect in the price you will only get what you pay for (hopefully anyway)

Loads of spares on ebay. I have a Hymer camp 55 on the Fiat Ducato chasis which will be up for sale later this year but since i`ve owned it i`ve used Talbot express parts as they seem to be easier to get, very interchangable and cheaper than the fiat parts.
I`ve seen body panels (wings/bonnets etc) going for reasonable prices & the engines are generally tough units although my engine is a 2.5 diesel i thought the pug unit was better.
