Hi chaps & Chapesses

Can anybody enlighten me as to what the red handle above the fusebox in my Hymer S550 does and why?

Hi steelygeoff
I don't know how old your Hymer is but my red handle turns the 12v in the living area on and off if you need a manual in English for your Hymer s550 its on disc as a PDF file would only charge you postage would need to know the age of your Hymer
If anyone wants a Hymer manual in English just let me know no charge only cost of posting £1

The red handle disconnects the habitation side electrics of the vehicle including the electric step. It has no effect on the vehicle side of things. If you run with this turned off you will not charge your habitation battery. It is only usefull if you are storing the vehicle for a length of time.

You can email Hymer in Germany quoting your model and chassis number and they will send you a pdf manual free of charge. I know this for a fact, I did it myself for my 1992 S700.

There is no need to pay someone for a copy.

Thanks guys I rather thought it might be something like that. I was just a bit worried that I might be like the guy in the cafe who knew he was in for a bad day when he pushed the plunger down on his cafetiere and the building across the road exploded... ;)
