I'm working my way down my list of TTD to leave a 2 year SORN behind me and get into the sunshine for the winter months.

This week's major task is to sort out some issues with a pair of 2004 vintage ISRI 9100 rigid seats.

Firstly they look old and sad, the material is what I would describe as soft suede texture, dark blue moleskin.
The arm rests, and headrest fabric is shiney and grubby.
One arm rest has snapped off.

The seats are not suspension seats, they are rigid and on a swivel.

So I trawled the web looking at replacements but ISRI current models such as the 6500 air suspension truck seats are selling for around £750 each for a basic seat, once headrest and armrests are added, +VAT and shipping, I was looking at around £1800. That is in black fabric, I am not upsetting myself with trying to get a fabric matched pair of seats, Black is fine with me but almost 2 grand is not, a person can have a lot of fun with 2 grand !

I happened across this site which supplies all manner of comfy seats :

Isringhausen (ISRI) Truck Seats from Jennings CVS

Any colour you want as long as it's black - with a couple of grey models as an alternative.

So today I took delivery of 2 of these (in black) SG10 Mechanical Suspension Seat

total for the pair was around £750 inc vat and shipping.

These have mechanical suspension, adjustable for various driver/passenger weight.
Height adjustment, tilt and back adjustments, recline etc.

Only modification that I need to do is to make up a pair of 1" flat steel bar spans to replicate the Hymer modified original seat fixing centres.

I'll be re-using the existing swivel plates and swap out the original slider/runners for the ones on the new seats.

I unwrapped one on the delivery pallet and gave it some bounce tests, the improvement in comfort over the ISRI rigid seat is huge, even when just perched on a pallet.

Black fabric seats and a white, long haired Jack Russell co-pilot is not a match made in heaven, I'm gonna have to get a black dog.

Photos when please

They're still on the pallet, My mate is making up the brackets currently, I've got the original seats removed right now, while I am disemboweling the dash electrics.

We'll be doing a dry run and trying them temporarily, in the next few days, I'll take a couple of snaps then'

Slightly off topic but a question if you don't mind. My sprinter based seats have IRSI on them although no sign of any suspension or what I have seen on lorry seats. Is ISRI just a maker? Just to add I dont have any problem with the seats and are very comfortable for me but just wondering about the name

They’re very very costly even at production.

I have seen the truck seats Gordon and the new ISRI seats but ours doesn't look anything like those which is why I asked the question. Ours doesn't have arm rests either although they may have been done away with when a previous owner had them re-upholstered in red leather, I wouldn't have minded an arm rest either

old seat new seat

A quick preview old ISRI seat in situ, new SM10 Jennings seat on the pallet.

ISRI is a short name for the manufacturers fully known as ISRINGHAUSEN.

Original Equipment - ISRINGHAUSEN

Their seats are available as rigid, mechanical suspension or air suspension.

I'm exchanging the rigid ISRI seats (no suspension) with aftermarket mechanical suspension seats from Jennings.

The Hymer suspension is comfortable enough to allow the fitting of non-suspension seats as original, I'm upgrading for a couple of reasons,

A) The original seats are shabby
B) I have a spinal injury, so any comfort upgrade is a big plus.

Is the reference to SIRI seats an indication of the smell-chjekker ?

Thanks for the explanation, your original seat looks more like my design, I just have seat on runners then the box under. Lots of different adjustments and lumbar support but nor got the suspension .

Does your original fit on a 'box', the new ones look like they swapped the steel box for the suspension if I compared to mine. Think I would be way too high if they went in mine but pics dont tell the full story on some things. You should be well comfy on those :)

My replacements will sit on the box/plinth and increase the overall height of the seat base / arse support by about 3 inches.

This will raise the driver's view by a little, I'll be sitting slightly higher in the pilots seat. Still easily and comfortably reach the pedals.

The only mod I am having to make is to add a pair of 1" flat steel bars running left to right as the new seats are narrower at the base.

The original Hymer/ISRI seats have had a similar bar welded across the base between the lh/rh/runners.

edit: My originals also have a swivel plate which I will be re-using on the new SG10 seats, allowing me to swing the seats around to point inwards.

This means that the steering wheel has to come off each time I swivel, it has a quick release mechanism to allow this.

2x new seats now installed, vast improvement over the non-suspension ISRI originals.

I've just ordered a pair of real sheepskin covers (not fitted) that lay over the back and seat supports, held on with straps.

Seat covers : Universal Fitting Genuine Sheepskin Car Seat Covers I've ordered the natural sheepskin colour as this won't show the Jack Russell hairs as much as the darker colours.
