Hi My Hymer B574 LHD Deisel Automatic has suddenly lost power. It was ok when I last used it, but I had a problem with the Trauma Boiler. When I got it back from the Garage it was down on power. I have had it in a Garage for service and repair just got it back still low on power. Funny thing is when cold its fine. If I stop at a Junction turn off and start again its fine until I throttle off then no power, anyone any ideas.

Hi luckily I took out extended warrenty when I bought it so can have upto £1500 worth of work at a time and as many times as I need. I think it was the best £250 I ever spent. Had the Trauma boiler replace at no cost to me.

Cheers

It could be the 'waste gate' on the turbo sticking. It is not an uncommon fault on these engines. Yours will probably have a switch fitted, which might also be the problem.

Just to update those who gave me advice, (thankyou) the problem turned out to be the exhaust system, had to have a new cat fitted. seems to have found its power again. Off to France for 3 weeks this weekend Wilding and using some sites. Have managed to get hold of a Ticket for the Monaco GP. Going to stay at a site in Biot the day before the race, has anyone ever used the train service down there. Apparently there is a train stop outside the camp site.

Going back to the problem we had, the company we bought the Hymer from were no help at all, they never got back to us. When we first bought the van the part of the exhaust fell off after a week, it came with a full MOT how does a van get an MOT with an exhaust system in that state.

The Garage I took it to (who were really good) did a smoke test on the engine and the exhaust manifold gaskets were leaking, they replaced them, but still no power, so they disconected the exhaust system and the power was back. Thats how they found the problem.
