How to transport our broken Fiat Ducato (1997 Coachbuilt) to Buxton (or other options for replacement engine around Suffolk)

Engine has blown badly and needs replacing. We used green flag to get home. They would have taken us to a garage within 10 miles, within the next 15 days.

We have managed to find someone with an engine that can fit it for us, but... we are in Suffolk & they are in Buxton, Derbyshire.

If we wanted to go ahead, how would we get it there? And do we risk it going so far away, when we don't know what complications may be experienced etc.

Only had it a couple of months & used once (plus this failed trip to the coast) 😭

My local breakdown garage charges £50 callout plus £1 per mile (I think). Ipswich to Buxton is 200 miles approx so you might be looking at £250 for transport. [That might be per round trip, so 400 miles?]

Could you not get a local garage to fit the engine and have it couriered to them? There might have to be a discussion about who would be responsible for any problems, either regarding delivery & suitability, or future failures.

Alternatively, find a more-local supplier.

Good luck - Gordon

Who is it in Buxton, until recently I lived in the area for 40 years?

Shipley would be my best bet (it's a sort of auction site for various shipping loads including vehicles)
