How do you change the starter battery in a burstner elegance

Hi

I think I might need a new starter battery, it looks a right job to get into the battery, has anybody done this? And how long/ cost to do it??

It can be tricky at best of times.as the battery is fitted to the offside of the engine bay..

disconnect the battery terminal that's nearest the front of the van then find the tie-down bolts that hold the battery to its tray, there could be either 1 or 2 of these.
then gently pul and lift the battery outwards until you can get access to the rear terminal which you can now undo .
to refit you just do things in reverse ...........

I've tried it & it's not easy, if you know a 'tame' motor mechanic it may be the answer to your problem, failing that a torch & mirror on the positive terminal should show you what needs to be done, and where. Good luck!

A lot of garages will do this. Same with bulbs, especially if you are a regular customer.

hi. dont even think about doing it yourself, go to a good commercial vehicle battery supplier and they will fit the battery for you all in the price, today everybody is looking for work and these people do this job every day.
good luck and happy travels.

ps. they will even test your old battery and tell you if it is the battery or if you have another fault in the system, all for free.
happy travels.

if youve got a radio with a security code , or a modern vehicle with computerised whatsits youre best taking it to a garage or a tyre supplier like ats...they have apowerpack to plug into the cigar lighter to keep volts on the system whilst the battery is removed.... if you remove the battery without at the very least youll have to enter the code for the radio before it will work.... worst case all youre on board ecu's , immobilisers and alarms will have a hissy fit.....can be hours of fun.

If you've got vehicle breakdown insurance with homestart (maybe called something else), which is what I've got with Brittania Rescue, they'll fit it for you down your drive. I recently experienced engine battery failure, and looking at the cramped space that the battery was fitted into on my Hymer A class, I called out the rescue people and checked that if I bought the battery would they fit it ? A resounding yes sir! Didn't take them long either.
