Trying do decide best VPN to use for iPlayer and ukNetflix in Europe. Expressvpn, good but expensive? Nordvpn seems ok, cheaper? Ghostvpn good, cheaper, but dubious ownership? What do you use?

We did a trial of Express VPN (rugby was on!). Connection was good ... little lag. And a prompt refund when we cancelled the trial.

Nordvpn is ok for the price, I think it was £30 for 2 years (I used to pay £10pm for a dedicated IP address). If it feels slow just disconnect and reconnect to a different server.

I used nordvpn for 2 years, mostly good results but now using pia, private internet access. It's very good but I usually have to change the server after an hour or so.

Nord VPN does the job for us if we want to watch BBC in Europe mainly because it has many, many servers in the UK. If one doesn’t work we can select another that does. Tried the free ones and they’re rubbish. We had SurfEasy for a year or two but the beeb soon twigged their servers. Express VPN has a good reputation but we haven’t used it although considering it for the Amazon firestick. Incidentally I’ve never noticed VPNs slowing down my internet speed; they may well do but I’ve never noticed it.

Don’t! Use phone as hot spot if desperate to stream rugby (or Strictly), which is all we watch. No TV. Use phones and mifi for banking.
P.s. Currently in Crete. What van you got in mind, Ian?
Hope your not banking over android unless your using mailspring or evalution through a sand box.

O 'eck, now its gone musical----------------what is "VPN" please. Is it a classical music thing (even I know it's nothing to do with ladies underwear) I really don't know

I use Opera VPN .. Built into Opera web browser and its free.

The Opera VPN is provided by Google. Yes it is encrypted into and out of their servers, but what happens inside them is unclear. They see everything. Still, it's a good free solution for browsing over dubious public WiFi, and is still my browser of choice.

Curiously as soon as you open a private browsing window and try a Google search you will see a message along the lines of:

"About this page

Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. This page checks to see if it's really you sending the requests, and not a robot. Why did this happen?
" together with more details, requiring you to go through the tedious captcha process and re-install their unspecified cookies.

Other search engines are available.

Neither does it work for the purpose that I suspect the OP wants.

FYI the Opera browser company has been owned by Golden Brick Capital Private Equity Fund I Limited Partnership (a consortium of Chinese investors led by Beijing Kunlun Tech Co and Qihoo 360 since 2016, make of that what you will.

It is nowadays based on a fork of Chrome, another Google product.

Opera Touch for Android seems good and has re-instated the VPN and data compression features that were lost in prior versions.

Oppy vpn = Virtual Private Network. Think folks are using it to stream U.K. tv when abroad. It creates a ‘tunnel’ between your device and a server in the country you select so it appears you are in that country.

I used to use it to connect directly to work or customer servers for secure access 👍

like katherine i used a trial of a vpn to stream rugby then cancelled it mainly because it slowed down all my other services facebook etc think it was £50 for the year no problem cancelling or the refund
