House Insurance

For the past few years we've been insured with Marks & spencer for our home insurance as they provide cover for up to 90 days away frm the home. They've now decided not to do this any more and we are struggling to find another insurer even though we're not looking for anything special apart from the 90 days. Who do you use for these long trips abroad? Any ideas please?
Whatever, AVOID NFU, I am still insured with them because they have not settled the fire claim on the house after 3 years. so whatever they promise they won't. This is the problem with taking out insurance, even if it is said to cover you - it doesn't mean they will pay out.

Would you rely on ephemeral website FAQs rather than the text of the policy booklet? I wouldn't.
But there again, I wouldn't rely on the 'policy booklet that I had looked at' ( undated, certified as the current edition?). The FAQs serve as a source of information on which prospective customers are entitled to rely when deciding to purchase financial products; and the Financial Conduct Authority takes a very dim view, and dishes out appropriate fines, for any false or misleading statements on websites or other material.

As I have already stated, I don't care, it's not my possessions at risk. I read the FAQs, read the Policy booklet and supporting paperwork, including the statutory 'What is Covered/What is not Covered' document and then rang the Insurer to obtain clarification of the extent of the policy for a specific area, obtaining an emailed confirmation, so no, I don't rely on ephemeral information, but, because I am not interested in a Tesco Policy, and the OP had only quoted a part of policy condition, I found an accurate description of the cover limitations.

Your approval or disapproval of my approach is a matter of complete indifference to me.

Steve
