East Riding of Yorkshire Council has now put signs up in the POI car park near to the boat compound near the sea front.stating that you can not sleep in a vehicle over night. they have repaired the small wooden fences and signed the area stating NO Camping. ( NICE ONE, EAST RIDING of YORKSHIRE COUNCIL another bullet in the foot of a failing sea side town.

I've been down there for the day when theres been a couple of MH obviously there for the week....washing lines etc, taking the pee i think but REALLY.....it's a massive carpark, what harm are they doing? All they are doing is good as a potential neighbourhood watch!

I was there on Friday 22nd Feb. just going for a couple of nights and found the new signs and the car park has been reduced considerably by the new fencing about a foot high. I went up Atwick Road for a night then to a lay by just outside Brid for the next.

It seems they dont like us anywhere on the East and North Yorks Coast!

I love the area. Places like Flamborough but I dont even bother wilding up there as its just too much of a pain. Plenty of cheap CL sites though.

I have stayed in the car park up by the caravan site with no bother, each time I have arrived I have done a litter pick, filled a full black bag, I keep this bag until I leave, then I do another one, its the day visitors that need targeting, not mh, I went in the cafe on the sea front had big breakfast and spent money in the town, all the day trippers do is bring their packed lunch take their dogs on the beach, let them crap without picking up, leave their rubbish and bugger off, I see it all the time, the council would make more money installing a cCCTV and fining the litter louts £100 a time, police came round to me, asked if I was ok, that's it, the sign means nothing, all it says is "camping prohibited"

We need an update on the coastal situation in this area, a friend who lives in that area says that the recent high tides and gales have done a lot of damage. We might have lost a couple of spots for wilding.

There are several plan options for the development of this car park. I have suggested that a welcome for Motorhomers is included by the provision of basic amenities for a small charge if necessary and as far as I am aware it was included in one of the options.

However the area of beach frontage to the south of the sharp bend in the road and almost opposite the POI is not restricted. I will check on this later today and report back if there are any changes.

Hornsea No Camping

There is a white generic no camping sign halfway along the waste ground fronting the beach. If you don't venture along that far you would not know it was there so probably not legal or enforceable. I never "camp" in these places, why would I when I have a cosy Motorhome.

Not sure about others on here but Hornsea is not top of my to visit list.
I Wild camp in Scarborough and Whitby no trouble when you think I am 36 foot long and 13 foot high
There are places to stop over night you just have to park up late and move early
I have the ace card too play just in case. Blue badge in window
They leave you alone once you say your unwell to drive works for me

All this can I can't I park why bother just across the channel your welcome most places a days drive south and you should be getting better weather so take your money to Europe where your welcome. Living near the coast I can get a ferry for what the fuel costs to get to Yorkshire so maybe better for me than some but surely worth a thought

Hornsea was never on my list at all. until Scarborough became anti motorhome. i want to go where i am welcome, where i don't have to worry about been egged or spray painted or called freeloader, not spending my hard earned cash in Scarborough no more.

the sign cannot be enforcable, there's nothing to enforce, it just says no camping, who says your camping, anyway, i think its a nice little spot, i'm over on the 28th i will report back to base, over and out.:ninja:
