Thinking about going on a 60 day trip but I note that my home insurance only covers the house being emply for 30 days. I do not want to talk to the insurance company and alert them to the fact I may be away longer than the 30 days. But I need to know if it's generaly possible to get an extension to 60 days ?
Any advice on this problem please. What do other Motorhomers do ?

Well my advice would be to talk to your insurers ...

They may ask you for a small additional premium, or perhaps before you talk to them you could make a firm arrangement with a friend or neighbour to visit your property at regular intervals. Then you can propose that to your insurers to show that you have made best efforts to reduce the risk.

RIAS cover 60 days and I double checked with them last week and it is still 60days but to get rias cover you have to have made a half century like what I have ....and then some

We recently had a similar problem - our house insurance had been via the bank (Lloyds TSB) and we were so alarmed by the differing answers we got from them that we probably would have moved anyway. (Best one was an insistence that we had to turn off water & electric and leave burglar alarm on!!!)

I think C&CC offer brilliant "extended absence" cover, but we went to NFU, who cover 60 days. Saved a fair bit in premium too.

Thanks for your comments.will take a look at C&CC

CCC offer 180 days unoccupancy. ,that is who I am with. Their breakdown cover is only for 90 days via RAC Arrival scheme, STUPID or what, that is why my Van Insurance is with Comfort.

Comfort do House, Car and Motorhome. All are with the same terms of being away. We were with them before going full time.
