Hob gas issue!

I boiled the kettle, switched off the gas hob and sat down in our motorhome. But then I could hear a hissing sound and found that it was from the switched off burner, gas was still coming out of it! So I switched off at the cylinder and investigated. I found that the hob gas valve action was not at all as smooth as the others and was also harder to turn. It seemed that I needed a new gas valve but boy are they pricy! Later I turned the gas back on at the cylinder and used the same burner and it has been just fine ever since and is smooth again. So I guess it was a bit of debris that got lodged in the valve and later got blown out? But it could have been quite bad had I not heard the gas leaking! Has anyone else had this happen?

oily gunge from the gas can cause gas taps to leak by not allowing them to seat properly .if it happens again you mght have to ask a fitter to dismantle and clean the innards . or diy if you feel confident enough

I'm plenty confident to service it but it is just a right pain to access it, but if it happens again I will do.
