I havent been around too long on these forums ,but I was told when in fFrance I would get a tug off Uk customs in Dover on my return.

And |Sods law etc it seems everyone was correct.

whilst they took the van to bits x-raying spare wheels and a French gas bottle and having to educate re fibre glass coated bottles, and even worse making me put the hound in a cage ( she wasnt happy) I was told it is almost a guarantee that motorhomes are tugged.

Naturally they didnt find anything , indeed there was nothing to find, But it would be interesting to know how much customs take an interest moreover if motorhomes are being singled out

Your experiences ? ( I guess working out urban myth and reality )

Used to get stopped every time, lately hardly ever. One time we were taken into the search area, asked to step out of the van, passports etc, then five or six customs guys headed for the van,one of them had a long screwdriver with a crowbar thing on the end of it.I stopped him and asked what did he think he was going to do to my three week old van with that? "I'm just doing my job sir"says he. I said "well pal,I can assure you yer not touching anything in my van with that crowbar",his gaffer came out and took me to a taped off area where two german registered campers were parked waitimg for forensics,he said they have false fuel tanks filled with crack? smack? class A drugs anyway. I said thats fine, glad you stopped them, but it changes nothing,no one is brutalising my van without a very good reason, after a good search( without the crowbar) we were allowed to go on our way.

I was stopped at Easter going out to Holland from Hull and coming in to Hull from Belgium.
They just had a look in my loo and wardorobe.

I think they want to buy but just can't decide which modell and which layout they want :D:D:D

we have been stopped at customs twice while traveling abroad, both times on the outward journey, both times one of the questions we were asked "have you any knives in there"

Think its pretty normal for them to have a look in bathroom see if and how many immigrants your trying to add
