Hiya everyone I found this site a few days ago. Have a compass avantgarde. Always wild camp with my husband and two dogs. Have lived for several months in the van full time when we sold our house. Been round Wales, Lancashire, but mostly Scotland where we live at the moment(in a house). We have found the best places to wild camp are further north. Always been able to find somewhere to camp even if it on a supermarket car park. Love to hear from anyone with places to camp or to offer suggestions. Jen:)

Welcome to the forum jenspen,
You said it all the further north you go the better the places and also there seem's to be more choice of wildcamping sites,it seem's like you are in a very good location now Scotland is fantastic for scenery :)

Wild Camping

Hi to all

North !!!??? how far North, yes it is better up north for wild camping, Western Isles, Orkney, Shetland Islands, providing of course it's not in a gale force 8-10, I'm up in the Shetland Islands and often wild camp, or should I say 99% wild camp, you can always get water at the ferry terminals, and dump black water at the terminal toilets, and can even get a map of all the toilet locations from the council, and if you should get to the Out Skerries islands (1 1/2 hours on the ferry) you will find a toilet with free hot showers, there are lots of places on top of the hills, next to the sea, and also secluded romantic places :D and I found Orkney the same,

Have fun :)
Colin

hi folks, sorry there is no totally effective solution to the midges. after many years of trying to get one over on the little creatures i've come to the conclusion that when you cannot stand it anylonger just run for cover. definately avoid aug. it,s the worst month.
