Hi all what an interesting site this is!

I have been having a read through some of the threads and think its about time I did a bit of wildcamping!

We have had our motorhome for 2 years, we have visited hundreds of places in the uk but usually staying on expensive c&cc sites, I love the idea of just getting in the van and finding somewhere beautiful to pitch up but have always been wary as we have 2 children age 7 and 10, it has always been easier to book up, have elec hook up etc, even though we have a silent genny and used to cope perfectly well at race meetings previously with no hook up etc.

I was wondering if many members have children and how they get on wild camping? I am always worried we would get a knock on the door at 10pm at night and told to move on. Your expert advice would be very useful. We love the forest of dean, peak district, Wales etc we usually take our bikes with us as we love mountain biking.

we travelled with 2,then 3,then 4 kids, they can give you a [possibly spurious] air of respectability.IE you're not a tramp as suspected, but a nice family broadening the minds of your off spring by showing them a bit of the world[which works by the way] also if there is a knock at the door, which WILL happen, you can get quite irate about waking the kids, instead of fawningly apologetic.puts them on the back foot nicely! go for it
edit for the second part of your question.the kids loved it,it was a big part of their life, they never went on a campsite but spent a LOT of time on beaches, mountains and in forests, climbing, making dens swimming in lakes and rivers, how can you resist?
